Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

I was wondering how the positions below #14 are being handled in the game, because on https://www.formula1.com/en/results.html/2017/races/974/japan/practice-2.html there is no one listed after #14...
Does everyone below get listed as being #15 maybe? Or some other way?

Cheers!

Re. Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

Same as official sources http://www.f1fantasygame.com/en/results/Japanese-Formula-1-Grand-Prix-2017/56
If some driver is not in the list he actually did not participate.

Re. Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

But that means that drivers in positions 11 through 14 go down in value, but the non-classified drivers (that should rank lower than 14) do not go down in value!
That is not fair and a flaw in the system, I think...
They should all lose at least 200 000 in value.
They actually did participate, they just chose to not go out. Which means they should rank lower.
Compare it to a driver who makes Q3 for qualifying, but does not go out anymore... He will list as #10.
So those who are participating in second practice, but choose to not go out should rank below those that did go out!

Re. Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

I see your point but the system expect someone to have rank to detect him as participating in some event.
The Q3 example is not the right one because drivers in Q3 are ranked by their time in Q2 and time when they made their fastest lap in Q2 so even they to go out in Q3 they still will have different rank for Q3.
Setting all drivers with rank 15 for P2 in Suzuka will be wrong, because imagine that there were only 2 drivers went on the track for that practice. This means that all the rest should have rank 3. That will be so wrong, because some drivers will increase their value even they did not go out on the track. So I believe that the safe middle is to not rank such drivers.

Re. Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

In that case I think they should all be ranked as #20...
That way they 'pay the penalty' for not going out, and it will be correct in all scenarios.
It would be just as wrong to give them an advantage over the drivers who did go out.

Re. Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

Disappointed to see you holding on to the 'no participation' approach...
You have now effectively given Bottas, Ricciardo and Verstappen a $300.000 bonus, which is completely unfair towards all the other drivers that did go out in FP2.

I hope you will reconsider this approach for an eventual next time and certainly for next season.
This is a fundamental flaw that exists in the dynamics of the game in comparison to the actual race weekend. And it needs to be thought about and addressed.

For the actual race, the free practices do not count for anything. In this game you have chosen to make them more important by attaching points and money to each position.
As such, you should treat these rare occasions differently than the FIA does. For them it doesn't matter if the drivers that don't go out get listed or not, but to the game it does!

I think we should approach it like this:

Each driver that participates in a session is basically starting as being #20.
They need to go out and do their best to get a higher position.
If they do go out, the official system will list them, and we can use those positions and attach the game's amount of points and money.
If they do NOT go out, the system will not list them, but in the game we should treat them as not having moved from #20.
This way it will always be fair.

Re. Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

I wouldn't say I'm holding on any approach but didn't know you expected something to be changed for 2 days especially  I still don't clear view of how is the best way to do it.
Anyway I was looking for something in the official sources that I can use to define who is about to participate in such event.
For example in some of the P1 events we have drivers that replace the main drivers of the team only for this practice.
In this case we probably shouldn't decrease the money of the replaced driver, but how exactly to find out that he was replaced if the event is interrupted, cancelled or only 2-3 drivers go out on the track. Just relaying on news before the event in not an option.

With the rest I agree with you and probably will add a rule in the game about not participating in the event with some value for the driver, but before that  I tried to clear for me all the possibilities.

Re. Japanese GP Practice 2 positions?

In the event of other drivers replacing the regular ones in a session like FP1, I don't think any changes are needed.
The regular driver does not participate, so he can not compete for that session and does not go up or down in value and is unable to get points.
It is just unlucky for players of the game if they have the replaced driver in their team. But that is also pretty avoidable as it is usually announced and it happens to certain drivers more than others. The only thing that could be done is to add the new drivers to the list, but I don't think that makes much sense as no one will buy a driver for just one session.

Thanks for being open to suggestions and having these discussions :)
There are still a few details that could be thought about, but I think this game has become pretty solid and fun!
