For each of your drivers you have 3 options to predict pit stop laps. For stop 1, 2 and 3.
So if you set that at first pit stop of one of your drivers will be at 8th lap and in the race the driver make his first pit stop at lap number 8 you will receive extra 5 points.
For each correctly predicted lap you will receive 5 points.
I general you predict the laps when drivers will do their pits.
